Melissa Ah Chan

I graduated with a LLB from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and a Bachelors of Science degree majoring in physiology from the University of Otago, New Zealand. In 2003, I was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.

I joined Forresters in 2007, after working for over three years and becoming qualified as a patent and trade mark attorney in New Zealand. I am also a qualified Australian patent attorney.

Having previously advised on all aspects of IP, including the registration and enforcement of patents, trade marks and designs, I decided to specialise in trade marks. My work primarily involves providing advice on brand strategy on a local and international basis, and filing and prosecuting trade mark applications. I am also involved in a range of opposition and dispute matters.

Having sadly left my mountain bike in New Zealand, I try and stay fit by going to the gym and attempting to play tennis. I also enjoy snowboarding and travelling, particularly to far off (and warmer!) places.
