April 2009
We are once again delighted to announce that several of our trainees have been successful in their most recent professional examinations, taken at the end of 2008.
The exams are governed by the Joint Examination Board, and are considered to be amongst the toughest on the IP circuit, and this continued success is thus a significant achievement, by all concerned.
In Birmingham, Emma Johnson passed both her remaining UK finals, meaning that she is now fully qualified as a British patent attorney, and Nick Palmer passed both the foundation exams taken – Basic English Law, and Designs and Copyright.
Their London office colleagues also had some great successes with the patents papers.
Jenny Donald passed the Infringement & Validity paper, and is now fully UK and European qualified. Dan Rusby is also now dual-qualified, having been successful in his last UK finals paper – UK Patent Attorneys’ Practice.
Charlotte Dale passed Preparation of Specifications for UK and Overseas Patent Practice, and the Prosecution and Revocation Proceedings paper, meaning that she, too, is now fully qualified in the UK. Chris Bond passed three of the UK finals papers – Patent Attorneys’ Practice, Preparation of Specifications for UK and Overseas Patent Practice, and Infringement & Validity.
On the trade marks front, Melissa Ah Chan passed the Advanced UK Trade Mark Law and Practice and Advanced Trade Mark Search papers, and needs just one more to become fully UK qualified, and Carolina Taplin was also successful in the Advanced Trade Mark Search paper – widely regarded as the most demanding of the trade marks finals.
We are very proud of our trainees' achievements, which reflect both their calibre and the hard work that they have put into their preparation.
Congratulations, from the partners and staff, to all of them.
