Media rush to praise Ardian’s blood pressure treatment

Ardian Inc has recently been enjoying the media spotlight following impressive clinical trial results for its revolutionary device to treat high blood pressure.

This device, for which Forresters’ Life Sciences team is securing patent protection, is being hailed as “the most exciting development in the field for 50 years” 1.

How does it work?

The Symplicity® Catheter System is designed to allow doctors to deliver energy to the nerves surrounding the renal arteries.

By doing so conduction through these nerves is reduced in a way that triggers the body’s own regulation mechanisms to lower blood pressure.

The system is simple and minimally invasive.

The procedure is simple to perform, without general aesthetic, and takes only 1 hour.

Clinical trials

The Lancet  recently reported the results of clinical trials, in which patients treated with the system experienced a startling average drop in blood pressure of 32/12 mmHg.  This can be compared with the untreated the control group which showed an average increase in blood pressure of 1/0 mmHg in. This translates to a reduction in the risk of dying, from heart attack or stroke, by almost half.

We offer our sincerest congratulations to all at Ardian for achieving such remarkable results!
