Forresters supports the EllenorLions Hospices

Once again, rather than send Christmas cards, Forresters is donating money to a worthy charity – the EllenorLions Hospices.

The charity provides care and support in a number of areas, primarily for adults and young people suffering from cancer and other progressive, life-threatening illnesses. The specialist teams also provide assistance at home, with the support of health and social care services, providing comfort, companionship and nursing help, for patients and their families.

For all of us at Forresters, this year’s chosen charity has a particular significance, as Alan Nugent, who joined us in 2009 as our records and formalities manager, was diagnosed with a rare form of abdominal cancer, in February this year.

Alan has been looked after in the EllenorLions Hospice in Dartford, and has worked incredibly hard over the last few months to raise awareness and financial support for the hospice. For more information on Alan’s story, and to see his appearance on an evening BBC news bulletin, please click here.

Commenting on the EllenorLions Hospice and the care he has received, Alan said recently that “without the love and care they provided, there’s a chance that I wouldn’t be here today. Words can’t really describe what the organisation has done for me and my family.”

We are delighted to be able to support the EllenorLions Hospices with their invaluable work.
