My background before entering the profession was in pure physics, and professionally I am now involved mainly with patents and designs. My patent-related work is centred on the UK and Europe, and covers diverse aspects of mechanical, electrical and software-related technologies, often involving fields in which inventions can be excluded from patentability. I have represented clients in person before the UK and European Patent Offices, and I am also involved in filing and prosecuting patent applications worldwide.

I deal with both registered and unregistered design matters in the UK and elsewhere, and am a registered representative before the OHIM, which grants community registered designs.

Outside work I am a keen reader, particularly of 19th-century fiction, and also enjoy poker and snowboarding.
