Matthew Shaw

UK Chartered Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, European Trade Mark Attorney

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Nottingham and now work in a wide range of technical fields, and on a variety of patent issues. I also deal with many aspects of law and practice relating to trade marks in the UK and overseas, industrial designs and copyright, and have a particular interest in intellectual property litigation and dispute resolution. A large part of my responsibility at Forresters lies in client development and acquisition - both at home and abroad - which means that I am lucky enough to travel extensively. Specifically, I am closely involved with intellectual property rights and enforcement in China, visiting the country at least once a year, and have recently added India to my field of activity. I am an active participant in the Asian Patent Attorneys' Association, which meets annually in various Far Eastern locations.

Outside of the office, I spend my time on the tennis and squash courts, and dreaming up elaborate reasons to avoid going to the gym - eating out, playing my drum-kit and spending weekends away are the current favourites.
