Graham Dodd

UK Chartered Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney

My background is in patents, including the filing and prosecution of applications and advising on infringement matters, for mechanical inventions. I first joined Forresters in 1971 having read engineering science at Durham University, and qualified as a Patent Attorney in 1975. In 1978, I joined a major engineering group to assist in establishing an in-house patents department where I was involved mainly with protecting automotive transmission components. In 1991 the decision was taken to outsource that work and I returned to Forresters. Since then I have worked with a wide range of technologies, and also have gained substantial expertise in relation to design rights, both registered and unregistered.

Outside working hours, my enthusiasm for engineering is directed to earlier years, including the restoration of vintage and classic motorcycles, although there never seems to be enough time for much riding.
