Russell Sessford
UK Chartered Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney
I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a Masters degree in electrical and electronic engineering. Since joining Forresters in 2004, I have dealt with UK and European intellectual property matters in a wide range of technical fields. In keeping with my background, I have specialised in mechanical and electronic inventions with particular emphasis on computer/software inventions.
My patent-related work includes acting before the UK and European Patent Offices, as well as the prosecution of applications worldwide, for a wide range of clients across a broad spectrum of different fields.
In addition to my practice in relation to computer/software inventions, I also have extensive experience in the prosecution of patent applications for inventions in other fields, from hydraulic rams to nail files, from medical devices to packaging.
I deal with both registered and unregistered design matters in the UK, Europe, and elsewhere.
In addition to the prosecution of applications, I also handle more contentious matters including – for example – oppositions, patent office opinions, infringement matters, and freedom-to-operate opinions.
Outside of work I enjoy running and swimming, as well as going out on my motorcycle (weather permitting).
