Beth joined the team at Forresters in 2017. In her day to day work, she assists a growing portfolio of clients with a range of patent prosecution matters in the UK, Europe and around the world.

Beth has successfully defended a number of opposition proceedings in the field of alloy compositions, preventing the revocation of her client’s patent. Beth has also provided patentability assessments from a European perspective for clients in the United States.

Having studied Natural Sciences, Beth primarily works on patents relating to a range of related technologies, from chromatographic systems to alloy compositions for aerospace applications and cancer therapeutics. Beth also works on patents and designs for mechanical technologies, such as small household appliances and sporting goods.

Beth’s broad technical knowledge allows her to work with clients in a variety of sectors, and she enjoys working directly with inventors and SMEs, explaining the patenting process and coordinating with foreign associates to ensure patent protection is obtained in all countries of interest. Beth also works with large multinational corporations, ensuring they obtain European patent protection for all aspects of their technology.

Beth holds a Master’s degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, specialising in Chemistry but also studying Materials Science. Beth’s Master’s project related to cancer research, and involved synthesising small molecules for use in stabilising G-Quadruplex DNA. Her post-graduate research project focused on the purification and structural characterisation of DNA translesion polymerases.

In her free time, Beth likes to spend time outdoors, enjoying rock climbing, running and cycling. Beth is also a passionate cook and loves trying out new recipes, with a particular fondness for Korean and Japanese food.
