Much of his work involves working with designers and engineering teams to review and update their product designs to avoid legal issues arising.

He has led teams successfully in asserting rights and defending against threats from IP rights holders. He has experience in dealing with conflicts involving registered rights such as patents and registered designs, as well as unregistered rights such as unregistered design rights, copyright and passing off claims.

Technical Specialism

He has a PhD in the field of machine learning, and a broad background in computer science. Much of his work involves obtaining patents relating to blockchain and fintech applications, a variety of systems employing so-called artificial intelligence, and various machine learning frameworks. He also advises clients on protecting mobile apps, and on legal issues relating to NFTs.

Nick’s clients are involved in a wide range of technologies, from beauty accessories, garments and handbags, to Fintech and blockchain applications, power grid technologies, and machine learning.

Personal Interests

Nick enjoys cooking and watching sport; following the fortunes of the Seahawks (NFL) and Newcastle United (‘proper’ football). He is interested in board game and video game design, and regularly takes part in competitive online gaming.
